Privacy Policy

CalcuGrid is built so that the numbers you type never leave your device. This page explains exactly what is and is not collected, by us and by the third parties we rely on.

Last updated

The short version. Every calculation runs in your browser. The salary, income and personal figures you enter are never transmitted to our servers, because there is no server — the site is static files on a CDN. We do not ask for an account, an email address, or any personal detail to use a calculator. What we do receive is limited to standard web request logs, Google Analytics measurement, and advertising data — all three described below.

1. Who we are

CalcuGrid ("we", "us") operates the website at calcugrid.com, a collection of free online utility calculators. The operator of record is CalcuGrid. For any privacy question or request, contact contact@calcugrid.com.

This policy applies to the website only. It does not apply to third-party sites we link to, which have their own policies.

2. What we collect

Calculator inputs — not collected

All calculation logic is JavaScript running on your device. When you enter a salary, a filing status, a pre-tax contribution or any other figure, that value stays in your browser's memory and is discarded when you close the tab. It is never sent to us, never written to a database, and never associated with you. We could not produce your figures if asked, because we never receive them.

Technical data — collected automatically

Like every website, serving a page requires your browser to make a request that our hosting provider records. These logs typically contain your IP address, the page requested, a timestamp, your user agent string and referring URL. They are used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults, and are retained by our hosting provider under their own retention schedule. We do not use them to build profiles of individuals.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which calculators people use, which pages they arrive on, and where the site is slow. Google Analytics sets its own cookies in your browser to distinguish one visitor from another and to group your page views into a session. It records the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and what device and browser you used.

It does not receive the values you type into a calculator. Those never leave your device, as described above. We have not enabled Google Signals, User-ID or any advertising-audience feature, so your analytics activity is not linked to a Google account by us.

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing Google's browser opt-out add-on, by blocking the cookies listed below, or by using any browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts. The calculators work identically either way.

Advertising

This site is supported by advertising. Where ads are served, they are supplied by third-party advertising partners, principally Google, as described in section 4.

3. Cookies and local storage

We use browser storage sparingly. The complete inventory of storage set on this site, whether by CalcuGrid or by Google Analytics on our behalf:

Key Type Purpose Lifetime
theme localStorage Remembers whether you chose the light or dark colour theme, so the site does not flash the wrong one on your next visit. Set by us; never leaves your browser. Until you clear site data
_ga Cookie Google Analytics. Holds a randomly generated identifier so repeat visits from the same browser are counted as one visitor rather than several. 2 years
_ga_BEM9992RVM Cookie Google Analytics. Holds session state — when your current visit began and how many pages it has covered. 2 years

That is the entire list. The two _ga cookies are analytics identifiers, not advertising identifiers: they let us count visitors, and nothing on this site reads them for any other purpose. Deleting the theme key simply returns the site to its default dark theme; deleting the _ga cookies makes your next visit count as a new visitor.

Where advertising is served, our advertising partners set their own cookies or storage under their own policies, described in section 4. You can inspect and clear all of it from your browser's site-data settings at any time; the calculators continue to work with every cookie blocked.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

We use third-party advertising to keep the calculators free and free of sign-up walls. Where Google AdSense is served on this site:

Google's handling of data in this context is governed by the Google Privacy & Terms page. Advertising partners do not receive the values you enter into calculators; they receive only the ordinary request context of the page the ad appears on.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. This site implements Google Consent Mode v2. For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, both advertising and analytics storage default to denied: no analytics or advertising cookie is written unless and until consent is granted, ads served there are non-personalised, and analytics arrive as anonymous, cookieless measurement. Visitors elsewhere — including the United States, Canada and Australia — default to granted, which is the position their local law takes.

A Google-certified Consent Management Platform is still required to collect consent from visitors in those regions and lift the default. Until one is deployed, the denied default stands, which is the conservative and compliant state rather than the profitable one.

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests for the security and diagnostic logging needed to keep the site running, and on consent for everything else — analytics cookies, advertising cookies and any other non-essential storage. Under the UK's PECR and the EU ePrivacy rules, placing an analytics cookie requires consent regardless of the lawful basis for the processing that follows, so the Google Analytics cookies in section 3 sit on the consent side of that line. You may withdraw consent at any time through your browser settings, the opt-out links above, or the consent controls where offered.

You have the right to:

In practice we hold almost nothing about you: no account, no profile, no calculator history. Requests can be sent to contact@calcugrid.com and we will respond within one month.

California residents. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in exchange for money. Where advertising partners process data in a way that qualifies as "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA, you may exercise choice via the opt-out links in section 4 or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.

6. Children

These calculators are general-purpose tools intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security and international transfers

The site is served over HTTPS with HSTS enforced. Because the site is static and holds no user records, there is no user database to breach. Our hosting, analytics and advertising providers may process technical data in countries outside your own, including the United States, under the safeguards described in their respective policies.

8. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change — for example if we add a new analytics or advertising partner. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the most recent substantive revision. Material changes will be summarised at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
